Use of Colouring-in Books
Use of Colouring-in Books

Are you a bad parent or teacher if you give a child a colouring-in book or templates to trace and colour in?
Back in the 80s and 90s the use of colouring-in books was debated amongst early childhood professionals. Let children draw, let children paint freely - and don't role model was the strong belief.
Is there still a place for children using colouring-in books - when and why? Or should they be banned and should parents be discouraged from buying such books and allowing children to practice colouring in within lines? Maybe we should re-visit the use of colouring-in books, discuss this, debate this, and consider the pros and cons.
