Attending a good early childhood centre can be an enriching experience but for children with disabilities it can also be a challenging time.
Once a family has found a centre able to accept their child and which they feel comfortable with, it can be hard to get the child fully integrated into the centre.
For children who are eligible for an early intervention service, this is made easier by the support provided by an Education Support Worker (ESW).
These are assigned to a child by an Early Intervention Provider either through the Ministry of Education, Special Education or through a private or sub-contracted provider.
