The Teachers Council is also bringing in more stringent monitoring of programmes to help to ensure that students receive a quality education.  Is this something that is long overdue?  Add your comments at the end of this article.

We suggest to students enrolling or enrolled in any initial teacher education programme to be aware now that they could graduate and find that their application for provisional registration is not accepted by the Teachers Council if their ITE programme is found to not meet the new requirements.
