This service provides a nursery/preschool and a kindergarten in one facility – a concept that will appeal to many parents.

The nursery and preschool section has up to 38 children including 16 under two-year-olds, while the kindergarten for older children can take up to 26.

Lake Terrace is owned and managed by early childhood trained teacher Karen Byrne.

Karen also makes herself available to cover some lunch breaks and to fill in when a staff member is away so children are assured continuity of care by people they know.

Minimum and Maximum Hours of Enrolment:  The minimum hours a child may attend per week are 8 and the maximum are 50 hours.

Children with Disabilities:  The centre has easy access for children with physical disabilities, including ramps. Within the staffing team there is expertise in working with children who have special needs and the teachers are mindful of family as well as child needs for support.

Children with Medical Conditions:  Depending on the condition and with family support and knowledge children with most medical conditions can be accommodated at the centre.

Children who are Gifted and Talented:  The teachers have experience with children who are gifted and are willing to draw on expertise outside of the centre as required to support gifted children

Children with Special Learning Needs:  A strong philosophy of recognising and respecting children’s individual developmental needs underpins all that teachers do. Communication with families and linking with outside agencies is a strength of the centre. This helps ensure that Lake Terrace provides an optimum programme for each child.

• The outdoor environment is challenging but safe; it is a place where children physically challenge themselves each day.
• The movable equipment allows for greater opportunities to meet children’s individual physical needs and we feel this is a really powerful tool for learning.
• We all love our huge sandpit and deck! These are two activity areas where children gather and meet whatever the weather conditions happen to be and therefore offer real choice about indoor-outdoor play experiences. Lots of conversations and relationship building happens in these places, they are set up in ways to support social engagement.

Each of my 3 children begun their early childhood education at Lake Terrace once they turned 12 months of age. I cannot praise Karen and her staff highly enough. They are a group of caring, professional, positive people who genuinely care about the well-being of their children along with the that of the parents. My family and I have dealt with many obstacles along the way and we have received support, understanding and commitment from Karen and her team.

As a qualified teacher i understand just how important a good quality early chilhood centre is.
My two children have been through lake Terrace Nursery, preschool and kindergarten. At all times i have felt as a teacher/parent my needs along with the childrens needs have been met and i have been supported at all levels to make my job as a teacher/parent at the centre possible and enjoyable.My husband and i believe we have two very well adjusted kind, caring children and a large part of their success is down to the teachers at lake terrace. Thanks
