Rodney Hide takes Special Education
Rodney Hide takes Special Education
Today (7 Sept 2010), Education Minister Anne Tolley announced that Associate Education Minister Rodney Hide is to have responsibility for special education.
A review of special education was led by Heather Roy earlier in the year (click here to go to a press release about submissions and the review), and one of the key tasks probably for Rodney Hide will be to oversee the implementation of the findings of the review - and to put forward a case for greater funding for special education.
Minister Heather Roy also had responsibility for gifted education which sits outside of the special education budget. It is not clear if this will also be one of the new delegations for Rodney Hide. Click here to go to Heather Roy's speech on Vision and Intitiatives in Gifted and Talented Education.
