What is the Research Network?

Contributors to, and participants in, the Research Network come from a range of academic disciplines including education, health, sociology, public policy, economics, history, physical education, etc.
The NZ Early Childhood Research Network has operated since 1998, providing email newsletters and an annual research symposium. The Annual research conference is continuing. Now members can also access past and current issues of NZ Research in ECE journal online. Through the ChildForum website members can dialogue with other researchers.
University and teacher education students find it helpful to tap into the material provided within the Research Network pages for their assignments and to develop their understandings of different methodological approaches if they have plans to go on to do a post-graduate research project.
The Purpose of the Research Network
- To make research available to any ChildForum member online for easy access any-time.
- To grow research capability through supporting researcher learning and providing opportunities for researchers to publish their work.
- To lift research out of the ivory tower and make research more widely known and accessible to all stakeholders in early childcare and education.
- To encourage and support users of research to be critical consumers and make their own interpretations of findings - understanding more about issues such as ethics, sample characteristics and if the results can be generalised to other populations, the importance of the data actually matching the conclusions and recommendations in a study, etc.
