Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching
- Study year: February – November
- 1 year full-time
- Able to study anywhere in NZ but must attend 3 intensive block courses in Christchurch
The programme consists of 10 courses (15 points each) completed in two semesters beginning in early February and finishing in November. Three of the 10 courses are Professional Practice (3 x 5 weeks), making a total of 15 weeks of professional practice in early childhood settings.
Students will experience a kindergarten as well as an education and care setting where they are placed with an experienced associate teacher. All students will undertake an infant and toddler placement.
The programme is offered through a blended learning model and students will thus study largely by distance. Students will attend three blocks of face-to-face classes (on-site intensives) at the Dovedale campus in Christchurch during the year.
