Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)

  • 3 years full-time study
  • February and July intakes
  • On-campus study at the Mt Albert campus

Benefits include the field-based nature of the qualification, in which students both study and gain regular experience in a licensed early childhood centre (on a voluntary or paid basis), engage with innovative learning technologies and enjoy a whanaungatanga approach to learning.

The programme aims to develop strong links between theory and practice, strong commitment to bicultural and social justice issues and working in partnership with parents and colleagues. Another distinguishing feature of the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) is an emphasis on informed, intentional and culturally responsive teaching, in which students explore themselves and their own teaching in early
childhood settings.

There are three practicum placements in a range of early childhood education services as well as one in their home-based centre.

Having heard a colleague talk about how useful she had found their material I joined. ChildForum's replies to my queries are prompt, extremely informative & with a genuine personal touch. I am impressed by the commitment to research & courage in tackling the hard issues like the risks of poor quality care for under 2s
