Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)

  • available nationally to students living anywhere
  • 3 years full-time (or up to 6 years part-time)
  • Mixed-mode delivery of learning – a combination of distance and face-to-face learning
  • February intake and a mid-year intake

Students have the flexibility to study in their own homes, as long as all study requirements are met within six years. As well as using printed course materials, the programme is online and web supported.

Students also receive individualised tuition from a national network of regional lecturers, who are easily accessible by freephone and email.

Face-to-face opportunities are provided through 20 days of workshops, tutorials and four five-week supervised practica.

It is highly recommended that students volunteer or work in an early childhood centre during their programme of study and have access to the internet for course pages and submission of assessments.

Comments previously added

I completed a Bachelor of ECE Teaching upgrade with Open Polytechnic in May this year. I found the program well resourced, current and relevant. When I had questions the online tutors answered them promptly and efficiently. I would definitely recommend to others. Administration staff were also efficient and helpful and online website easy to use. (Antonia Mountfort 2014-11-17)

Having heard a colleague talk about how useful she had found their material I joined. ChildForum's replies to my queries are prompt, extremely informative & with a genuine personal touch. I am impressed by the commitment to research & courage in tackling the hard issues like the risks of poor quality care for under 2s
