Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)

This three-year, field-based early childhood teaching degree encompasses theory, self-directed learning and teaching practice.

Students attend classes two days per week at the Eastern Institute of Technology, and complete 12 hours of practice in an early childhood centre per week in either a paid or a voluntary capacity.

Each year, study is divided into the following strands: Contexts of Early Childhood; Professional Inquiry in Practice; Ngā Tangata Whenua o Aotearoa; Curriculum in Action; and Professional Inquiry in Practice and 12 hours per week field-based practice.

The programme of study includes attending one noho marae and completing 14 weeks of teaching practicum.
