Advice on Financial Assistance and Scholarships Available for Studying to Become an ECE Teacher

© ChildForum

join childforum.com for lots of further information and adviceTeachNZ is the main option for training scholarships for both men and women. You will have to stand out from the other students applying for only a small number of TeachNZ scholarships. If you are proficient in Te Reo or Pasifika you’ll apply for that particular language scholarship.

You’ll find comprehensive advice on applying for these scholarships and other funding sources by clicking here to go to the relevant information.

Studying while working is a popular option to not only help to subsidise the cost of study and living but also for hands-on practical experience and enjoyment. Approach early childhood centres to see if they would welcome you as an untrained teacher. Keep your eyes open for job vacancies offering prospective employees support for study and maybe discounted childcare if you have a child.

Our ChildForum network has set up an Invitation Grant scheme for men at the entry point of training. It is also calling for teacher education providers to register their interest in providing training scholarships and for sponsors of the $400 invitation grants. For information on applying for a scholarship or to indicate your interest in being a sponsor click here.

Testimonials

  • Preschool Leader

Having heard a colleague talk about how useful she had found their material I joined. ChildForum's replies to my queries are prompt, extremely informative & with a genuine personal touch. I am impressed by the commitment to research & courage in tackling the hard issues like the risks of poor quality care for under 2s
