infants in childcareHere we review the positive and negative effects on children of participating in normal / typical early childhood education and childcare programmes.

There is clear evidence of the cognitive and language benefits of targeted and well-funded intervention programmes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

There is less research on the effects of participating in ECE on children in NZ. But we know what many of the risks are and can work to mitigate these risks.
