Is it important for parents and early childhood educators to be involved in helping their preschool children to learn pre-reading skills? Yes it is!

Parents play an important part in helping their children acquire pre-reading skills.

There are many ways early childhood educators can support the acquisition of pre-reading skills too.

By playing and having fun, parents can cover all the pre-reading skills their children need for a successful start to reading and writing when they go to school. There is no need for any formal teaching at the pre-school level.

Parents need to know what and how to help their children with learning pre-reading skills. But, where do they go to find out?

They can go to their child's early childhood teacher for guidance.

If early childhood teachers don't know what to say and what to do to help, and parents don't have guidance then they tend to teach their children what they think they can remember doing when they started to read.
