Learning languages is an important part of education, whether it is connecting with parts of our own culture by learning Maori or embracing new ones (such as Asian cultures) which are becoming ever more important in our world.
With families coming to New Zealand from all over the world it is also important to recognise that English may not be the main language in the home of some families.
