"Why should we continue to accept men into our teacher education programme when they have difficulty fitting in and so often have difficulty completing training? Our experience has been that that they either withdraw into themselves or do the opposite and become the joker in their class. Out of our 80 or so Year 1 students we had 3 men and 2 of the 3 have not completed. The first withdrew a few months into the programme, the male in a second class dropped out after half-way through the programme and said the course wasn't for him. I suspect the third male stayed and graduated because he got along well with and moved in with one of the women in his class".
