Every Child should have a Right to a Free Kindergarten Public Education

Our Position on Children's Right to Access Public Pre-school

Access to public education is the right of every child of school age in NZ.  We believe that this right should be extended to all children in the year before starting school for up to 15 hours a week (5 mornings or afternoons weekly).

NZ Free Kindergarten Associations were originally set up to provide for this.  However many associations, for whatever reasons, now operate like private ECE providers and compete in the childcare market.
