Nature-Based Curriculum - Providing Outdoor Early Childhood Education

A new daycare is set to open its doors this month in Columbia Falls, and this one's a little bit different from most other childcare facilities in Montana.

Outside Kids is a nature-based daycare, run by a couple who have worked in early childhood education all around the world.

The owners plan to incorporate outdoor education, including science, nature, and the environment, into the curriculum already designed for children in Columbia Falls.

Children will get the chance to spend time outside learning about nature and also broaden their horizons inside, with classes like art, cooking and even yoga.

"Studies have shown that a focus on nature-based education, even from a young age, helps all areas of studies right up through high school. It's really good for children in the 21st century to understand the environment and the environment that they live in," Outdoors Kids owner Dermot McCaughan explained.

Having heard a colleague talk about how useful she had found their material I joined. ChildForum's replies to my queries are prompt, extremely informative & with a genuine personal touch. I am impressed by the commitment to research & courage in tackling the hard issues like the risks of poor quality care for under 2s
