Early childhood teacher, Adam Buckingham, who works tirelessly in a number of areas to make a difference for children has been announced as one of three finalists in the communication and education category for the Green Ribbon Environmental Awards.

Announcing the finalists, Environment Minister Amy Adams said that the Awards honour outstanding contributions to protecting New Zealand's environment.

Adam Buckingham authored and published the 'Turning Trash into Treasure for Young Children' book. He presents professional development workshops in New Zealand and overseas, forging links with like-minded people in other countries, on reusing solid waste materials.

Adam has designed and made innovative equipment for young children from solid waste. He encourages creative thinking around waste management, and instills a positive environmental ethos in children from a young age.

The finalists will attend an awards ceremony at Parliament on June 5, which is World Environment Day.
