A new booklet covering advice on keeping babies and young children safe has been released by Consumer Affairs.
The Keeping Kids Safe guide has been available for a number of years, but this year the guide has been completely rewritten and updated by staff at the Measurement and Product Safety Service and the Advice, Information and Education Team.
The booklet is designed for parents and caregivers and contains information on safe products for babies and children and potential hazards in the home. For the first time, information on small button batteries and magnets has also been included in the guide.
It is hoped a copy of the guide will be given to new parents and caregivers through lead maternity carers or Well Child providers. An electronic copy can also be found at www.consumeraffairs.govt.nz.
