In the Chinese Lunar Calendar system, 2015 is the year of yang (羊) - a generic term that includes but is not limited to sheep, goat and ram.
For centuries, no one has given any thought to the difference between these animals.
This is hard for today's Westerners who need to say/write it in English – They have to make a choice between at least sheep and goat!
The choice actually does not matter, but if you want to show off your language/cultural sensitivity, you may humorously say/write 'The Year of the Sheep/Goat', leaving the choice to the listeners/readers.
