Are gender stereotypes tackled in early childhood education well enough?

The latest 2016 OECD report on "Low-Performing Students: Why They Fall Behind and How To Help Them Succeed" calls for education systems to tackle gender stereotypes.

The goal of diversity needs to placed at the forefront of the early childhood curriculum. What is being done to tackle gender stereotypes in the early years of children's learning, or what would you like to see happen?

Parent Survey Reporting Tool

The NZ ECE Survey of Parent Satisfaction and Experience© ChildForum is a purpose-built, fully tested, survey tool used by all types of centres and home-based services.

For many early childhood services this is available free - at no charge for registration and per family form

It's confidential.

It's easy and will save you a whole heap of time.  The work of survey design, analysis, and preparing a report is done for you - all you have to do is register, give parents the password for your service's survey (which is set up for you) and encourage families to respond.  When you think you have enough responses and want the survey closed you will be given a written report of the results.

Parents and caregivers can do the survey on their mobile device or computer - so there's no need for paper and pens any more! But a paper option is available if you choose.

Feedback from parents is vital to building good relationships with families and maintaining quality for children.

  • Give your early childhood service the marketing advantage!
  • Parent satisfaction levels are important to know and to monitor.
  • Show families your service is committed to quality and being the best it can be for their child!
  • Meet ERO and regulation requirements to consult and obtain feedback from parents, especially on key operational and quality matters affecting children.

Terminating enrolment - When the behaviour of a child interferes with your ability to provide a safe and educational environment for all children

A member asked whether her centre can terminate the enrolment of a child whose behaviour has left other children crying, disrupts the programme, and requires constant individual supervision. She's worried about what will happen to her centre's reputation if the parent goes to the local newspaper and she's worried also about how this might reflect on the skills of herself and staff in admitting they cannot cope with the child's behaviour.
