Pets and animals at ECE services

At ChildForum we are hearing from many people considering such things as having a baby lamb at their centre for children to feed and care for, getting a pig to eat food scraps and for children's learning about animal care and sustainability, getting fish and what policies around this are needed, etc.

The short answer is pets and animals are great and really important for children to have contact with - as long as there is an adult responsible who is knowledgeable and experienced in the care of such an animal.

In terms of rules and regulations check these out at the My ECE website
